Obento 2

Last week, I made another bento for school. It consisted of fried rice and chicken nuggets. I took pictures again!

This is a picture of me sauteing the vegetables and chicken. I have stream beans, broccoli, peas, carrots, and corn in here!
This is a picture of me adding the egg in!
This is what it looks like after I added the soy sauce. The fried rice is done!
These are what the chicken nuggets look like. Their Disney chicken nuggets shaped like Mickey Mouse, how cute! They taste good!
This is a picture of what my bento looks like when I finished
Hmmm. Part of making bento's is to have it look colorful and appetizing. It tastes great, but I need to work on color and layout. It looks really boring to me.

Hopefully, I can improve on the next one!

Song review: Sakura no Ki ni Narou + SKE covers

Sakura no Ki ni Narou by AKB48, their new single.

While I love songs like RIVER, Beginner, and Oogoe Diamond, AKB48's ballads are what really make me like them. This song is just so beautiful, and kind of sad, it made me shed a tear when I watched the MV. Though a tad bit boring

Plus... Matsui Jurina was also featured A LOT in this single, and I'm so happy about that because she looked so gorgeous! (love you jurina!) But not only Jurina, at least two other SKE members (including Matsui Rena) were in this AKB single! I know other people have problems with SKE members being in AKB singles, but I have no problem with it! The more the merrier, right? But these Theater Girls, Under Girls, DIVA, MINT, etc are really confusing!! There are too many sub groups and groups, I can't keep up. But I like Under Girls' songs. They have really nice songs!

Is anyone else LOVING these covers? Their gorgeous!! The colors blend together nicely, everything looks peaceful.

SKE48's Banzai Venus covers are just as good as AKB's! (VERY bright!) Looking forward to this single!
Ishida Anna (center) Is so cute!!!

Yesterday...

Which was Saturday, I went to the mall! My mom brought me a Hello Kitty shirt from hot topic, it's really cute!! I also got 3 manga books.

1. Koko ni Iru yo! (I am here) volume 1.
This is also the author of pixie pop, but I never read pixie pop because I could never get into it. But I am here is just WONDERFUL!! The art is gorgeous! Everything is so shiny!!! I don't know who does the screen tones for Ema Toyama, but they are a PRO! The use of screen tones in this manga is just amazing, see:

LOOK AT THAT. I THINK I DIED OF CUTENESS WHILE READING THIS. I also cried. A lot. Because I can relate to Sumino. Up until 6th grade, I had no friends. I know how it feels to be alone, not noticed by anyone and invisible. This manga is on mangafox, but I want the manga in my hands! I wanted to be able to own it and look at it any time I wanted.  It cost me $22, but hey, the book is the length of 3 mangas! It was SO worth the money!!!

2. Zettai Kakusei Tenshi mistress Fortune (Mistress Fortune)
By the author of Full Moon and Shinshi Doumei Cross. I have been waiting FOREVER to read this manga!! Arina tan's manga are always so very very detailed! That's why it's hard for me to read her manga online. I'd rather buy her manga, plus the art is pretty! Mistress Fortune was really funny!! I'm glad I brought it! I love the characters in this! It also came with a pull out poster thing, it's double sided!!!

Shojo beat's manga went up $1 like a year ago. They are starting to include color pages in their manga like yen press does, I'm happy about that because no it's worth it to buy shojo beat if they have a color page in it!

3. Otome Koi Kakumei Love Revo!! volume 3 (Ugly Duckling's love revolution)
Is actually based to an otome game! And you can totally tell because there are like 8 hot guys surrounding the main character! I love this manga so much! The art is shonen style though! O____O I was surprised that I liked it! Hitomi, who is the main charcter weighs 220 pounds and is trying hard to lose weight! However, this isn't realistic because normally guys would be tease Hitomi because she's fat. it's just the way life treats fat people. But The guys around her are so nice, and they help her an encourage her into losing weight! Why can't real life me like this? It is $12 because yen press is sooo expensive! BUT!! It comes with a color page poster!!

Tomorrow is valentine's day. I plan to draw a picture but I hope I have enough time to do it!!!

Fun Saturday

Today, I'm going to see a ballet performance with my mom at 7:30pm! It's not the classical ballet, you know, like the Nutcracker. It's dance ballet (I think). It's more modern.
I really enjoy watching ballet. It looks so graceful and it amazes me how people can be so flexible!!

I also drew another picture! It's on a huge piece of paper (12" x 12") It looks better in real life (as does all traditional art)

I tested new colors I got. I am also slowly collecting Copic markers. I can buy them at hobby lobby and it's great because every time I go to my grandma's house, there it is!!! (I have to use my own money most of the time, but I use 40% of coupons which is nice.) They choose such a convenient location because copic markers aren't sold at Micheals. Dick Blicks, which is an even bigger art store is opening a store in Washington DC! I can't wait to visit. (granted my mom will drive me all of the way over there...)

Obento

For the last year, I've been obsessed with bento making! I've got two bento cook book's so far.

The first is Just Bento, which is a relatively famous bento blog/site that's run by Maki. I like it because it mixes Japanese, American, and even some other food from other countries together to form delicious meals appropriate for bento making. 5/5! You will not regret owning this cook book ore reading Maki's website, I know I didn't!: Read It Here! Buy it on amazon or your local book store!

The second is a bento cook book called kawaii bento boxes that teaches you how to make cute-type bento. I love this because it's so cute! It tells you how to make faces on your food and how to decorate your bento so It looks, well, cute. It also groups food by color and includes extra recipes. 4/5 because it makes you flip back and forth If the recipe for that food was already mentioned on another page. Buy it on amazon!

Although I haven't tried any of the recipes or bento's in the cook book's it yet, they are both a great reference and the pictures from both are just gorgeous!!

Last night, I decided I wanted to make a bento for school. Originally, I was going to have salmon onigiri in it but ran out of time and couldn't make them! So, I decided to have rice with furikake sprinkles son top, tamagoyaki, broccoli, and salmon. I took pictures this time!

cooking the tamagoyaki:

Rolling it up in a sushi mat so it keeps it's form! And then you take a sharp knife and cut it:

Salmon:

Here are all of my materials together:

And this is the final product! Not too professional, creative, or neat though. I'm still learning...
I also made my sister one too! Her's is on the right, mine is above and on the left:

Well, that's it for now. I hope to post more better looking bento when I improve.
